Tender Loving Calls (TLC)
We have trained volunteers making daily calls to people who are isolated, living alone or lacking a support system. This well-received program has been in existence for almost four years. The purpose of these calls is three-fold:

1. to check on their well being
2. provide a friendly social contact
3. provide crime prevention tips and other useful information If you wish to be called by this program or wish to volunteer, please let us know. Our number is 207-967-8514.

Commitment to the Community

The Center works closely with the Southern Maine Area Agency on Aging, Kennebunk Health Services, local schools and local Food Pantry to provide a wide variety of services. Programs include health, fitness, nutrition, CPR, legal resources, and retirement communities. The Center conducts many other health-related services which are also open to the public.

Other Important Programs
  • Distinguished Elders Lecture Series

  • The Elder Elves Program ~ is a group of dedicated volunteers who prepare and deliver holiday gift baskets to people in our service area lacking friends and family at this time of year.

Gift items for the holiday baskets are new and made possible through generous monetary contributions from the surrounding communities.

  • FISH
FISH stands for Friends in Service Helping. These are volunteer drivers providing transportation for medical or social appointments for those residents in our covered service area only when no other means of transportation is available. FISH volunteers assist those in need to get to where they need to go. We are currently averaging thirty requests per week.

FISH operates very simply. Recipients contact the Senior Center at 207-967-8514 or 1-800-441-8527 for transportation requests between the hours of 9 to 1 and at least 24 hours in advance. We will contact the driver on call for the day of your appointment and have them contact you to make the necessary trip arrangements.

No payment from the rider is required but donations are accepted. To be a volunteer driver, no special insurance is required. A current, full-coverage auto insurance policy should cover volunteer activity.
