1. GENERAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Hartley Lord Scholarship is awarded annually to individuals who have chosen to pursue post secondary education from an accredited program leading to a degree or certification in a field that focuses on the well being and needs of the senior members of our society. Such a field of study may include but, would not necessarily be limited to community service, eldercare, nursing or medicine.

2. AMOUNT OF AWARD

The Hartley Lord Scholarship - $1000

3. DETERMINATION OF AWARD

The Board of Directors shall appoint a Scholarship Committee each year who shall have the responsibility of evaluating the applicants and making a recommendation to the Board of Directors.

4. ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for consideration, a student must be in good academic standing, have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a course of study leading to a career consistent with the scholarship's purpose, have completed a scholarship application with appropriate supporting materials and submit a letter of recommendation.

5. CRITERIA

A number of factors may be considered when making the selection each year. It should also be noted that no particular weight is given to any one factor. The Committee will consider academic standing, future promise, recommendations, and academic major among others.

Applications should be submitted no later than May 1, 2012. Recipients will be notified in early June.

7. AWARD CONDITIONS

The scholarship is payable directly to the institution on behalf of the award recipient upon receipt of evidence of good academic standing from the prior term or semester. Accordingly, scholarship awards made in June will become payable beginning with the spring term of the following year.
