THE BETTY EATON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
1. GENERAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Betty Eaton Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in 2012 to a student from Kennebunk High School who will be attending the University of Maine at Orono to pursue a degree in Education.
2. AMOUNT OF AWARD
The Betty Eaton Memorial Scholarship - $1000.
3. DETERMINATION OF AWARD
The Scholarship Committee of the Senior Center at Lower Village shall have the responsibility of evaluating the applicants and making a recommendation to the Board of Directors of the Senior Center at Lower Village.
4. ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for consideration, a student must be in good academic standing, have demonstrated an interest pursuing a course of study leading to a career consistent with the scholarships’ purpose, have completed a scholarship application with appropriate supporting materials and submit a letter of recommendation.
5. CRITERIA
A number of factors may be considered when making the selection each year. It should also be noted that no particular weight is given to any one factor. The Committee will consider academic standing, future promise, recommendations, and academic major among others.
6. DEADLINE FOR CONSIDERATION

Applications should be submitted no later than May 1. Recipients will be notified in early June.
7. AWARD CONDITIONS
Scholarships are payable directly to the institution on behalf of the award recipient upon receipt of evidence of good academic standing from the prior term or semester. Accordingly, scholarship awards made in June will become payable beginning with the spring term of the following year.
