Hartley Lord Scholarship Now Taking Applications

The Hartley Lord Scholarship is awarded annually to an individual who has chosen to pursue post secondary education from an accredited program leading to a degree or certification in a field that focuses on the well being and needs of the senior members of our society. This could be a community service post, eldercare position, nursing or medical occupation. Find the application and details here.  Deadline to submit is May 1.

Free Caption Telephones for Hearing Impaired Individuals

Learn how to receive a Free Caption Telephone from a federal provider here at the Center, Tuesday, March 7 at 10:30 am.  Caption Telephone Service is provided by the Federal Government to hearing impaired individuals.  Sign up at the Center.  Individuals who want a caption phone must have internet service and a home phone number.

Kennebunk Beach Classic 5K taking registrations now!

The Kennebunk Beach Classic 5K is open for registration now.  Join us Sunday, June 4 for this road race that winds along the coast and supports a great cause.  A terrific event for running enthusiasts and families alike.  The course is certified, runners have Chrono Track Timing Tags in their bibs.  Sign up to run or walk now.

Pat Schwebler named Executive Director of the Center

The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce that Patricia Schwebler has been named Executive Director of The Center. She will begin her new role on January 3rd.

Pat brings to the job a strong business background, coupled with a long career working with local non-profits. Most recently, she has been a Trustee and volunteer at the Brick Store Museum.  Prior to that, she was Board Co-Chair at Caring Unlimited, Marketing and Fundraising Chair for the Kennebunk High School Performing Arts Boosters and was a member of the School Budget Board in Kennebunk.

Pat and her family have lived in Kennebunk for 23 years. We are fortunate to have someone with such strong local ties and commitment to the community join us as Executive Director.

We are planning a member reception January 5th to give everyone an opportunity to meet her. In the meantime, please join us in welcoming Pat to The Center.

The requests for rides from seniors is increasing.  Can you help?  Several drivers are heading south for the winter and we could use you!  Read this article in the York County Coast Star to see how being a FISH Transportation Driver is a win-win for both driver and rider.

Computer tutoring available

Do you need help with your iPad, Smartphone or laptop?  Our Volunteer Bill is a whiz and available Tuesday afternoons at 1 pm.  Please call to reserve a spot:  967-8514.  The UNE grad student will return on Tuesday mornings in January.
